Seven days tour in South Lazio between Saint Benedict Land and the Ulysses Riviera

(From Saturday to Saturday)
1st day: arrival at the hotel and accommodation.
In the afternoon we will visit the small village of San Giorgio a Liri and its little lake;
then we will go to the ancient village of Castelnuovo Parano, situated on a hill that overlooks all the Ausente river valley. Dinner at a local Farm Holidays (Agriturismo) with tasting of typical products.
2nd day: Breakfast at the hotel
All day will be dedicated to the visit of the Abbey of Saint Benedict, of the polish military cemetery and the National Archaeological Museum.
Dinner at the hotel and free evening.
3rd day: Breakfast at the hotel.
Tour of the Comino Valley: all the morning will be dedicated to the visit of Atina and the old mill in Agnone, with visit and tastings in a winery that produces the Cabernet Atina Doc, the second Doc of Frosinone province.
We will have lunch in a typical restaurant where you will taste a very rare product, the Cannellino Bean, a bean that is unique in Italy for its tasting, due to the particular climatic condition of this area.
In the afternoon, the tour continues in a dairy farming in Picinisco that produces the precious Pecorino cheese from Picinisco and we will have also a short tour of the old house of the English writer D. H. Lawrence.
Dinner at the hotel.
4th day: Breakfast at the hotel.
We will go to Casamari to visit the Abbey of Casamari, with a specialized tour guide. Here you can also buy herbal products made by the monks. In fact, still today, the Cistercian monks of Casamari use strictly
We will move to Anagni, well know as Popes’ City, and we will have a guided tour of the city.
Packed lunch.
In the afternoon, we will visit the small town of Fumone and its castle with a specialized guide and we will have dinner at the famous “Taverna del Barone”, where we will have a taste of traditional dishes immersed in a suggestive atmosphere.
5th day: Breakfast at the hotel.
We will go to Formia, the city stretched out the Tyrrhenian sea; favourite summer stay of a number of roman nobles, in which stand out Cicero.
We will have lunch in a typical restaurant where you can taste dishes of the culinary tradition of a sea town, with fresh fish.
In the afternoon we will have a guided tour of the city of Gaeta, situated on a peninsula that juts into the Tyrhennian Sea.
Dinner and free evening.
6th day: Breakfast at the hotel.
We will leave for Sperlonga, passing through the Aurunci mountains. At first we will have a guided tour of the Grotto of Tiberius. The Emperor Tiberius chose this site for his summer residence: a beautiful natural setting right on the sea. Today you can visit the ruins of the villa, walk inside the grotto and see the amazing statues found in front of the grotto.
Lunch at a restaurant.
The second part of the day will be dedicated to the guided visit of Sperlonga. Sperlonga is mostly a tourist town thanks to its beaches: a long beach on its west side going all the way to Terracina, and a series of short beaches and rocky cliffs on its east side towards Gaeta.
Dinner and free evening.
7th day: Breakfast at the hotel and free morning.
In the afternoon we will go to Aquino and visit the town, its museum and the museum of Saint Libera, a 9th century building in the Romanesque style erected over the remains of an ancient temple of Hercules Liberator. It has now been declared a National Monument.
Dinner at a farm holiday in the nearby.
8th day: Check out and good bye.
This indicative programme tour is addressed to, and organised for, a group of at least 4 people who would like to spend a week-end in a peaceful and remarkable land, yet marked and characterised by Culture, History, Delicious and Gorgeous food.
